How To Remove A Ratchet Strap

How to remove a ratchet strap. In order to release the strap from the ratchet, you must first make sure you have squeezed the manual pawl (seen below). 4.) once the slack is removed, you can start to ratchet the strap to the desired tension, keeping the strap straight. Open the ratchet fully so it lays flat, releasing the pressure on the strap. This will cause the manual pawl to rise and create space for the ratchet to come flat. From the bottom up, insert the webbing strap into the ratchet buckle slot found in the center of the ratchet and thread the webbing through and back onto itself.

Once you have finished using your ratchet strap and you're ready to remove it, simply pull the handle whilst opening the ratchet completely.

Pull the webbing to remove any excess slack. If you have a hard time loosening it, it might be because its position does not support loosening it. This is the first part of unlocking the ratchet strap.

So, to release the strap from the ratchet, you must ensure you apply pressure on the manual pawl. Keep lifting until the ratchet mechanism is as flat as you can possibly make it. Take a moment and tie it to avoid loose ends.

To release the ratchet strap, pull and hold the tab on top of the ratchet assembly to override the ratcheting function. Drag the release tab and open the ratchet and loosen the strap. To release the strap from the ratchet, flatten the ratchet by squeezing the manual pawl lifting it eventually.

This will release the strap from the ratchet’s hold and allow you to completely remove the strap. Remove the slack between the two hooks by pulling the free hanging end of the webbing. Then, continue pulling the strap to remove unnecessary slack.

Open up the ratchet and pull the strap loose. Make sure the ratchet is locked Take a moment and tie it to avoid loose ends.

Open the ratchet until it is completely open and the ratchet is laying flat. It’s easiest to pull the strap that’s on the same side as the ratchet handle. Keep pushing up and squeezing the handle until the ratchet is flat.

This will lift the manual pawl and allow you to flatten the ratchet. To completely remove the strap from the ratchet, open the ratchet completely and pull on the loose end (not the part actually attached to the ratchet) until it comes free. Then, still squeezing the little handle, you need to swing the main handle all the way up.

This is normal and when this happens, don’t fret. Pull and hold the release lever or release tab when you’re ready to remove the strap and unload the cargo. You will have to pull hard on the unhooked strap so that you can get the strap to finally uncoil from the spool.

The strap may be wedged in there tightly, so you might have to pull pretty hard to work it free. Raise and lower the ratchet handle to tighten the strap and wrap it around the axle. Before you loosen the ratchet strap, i suggest that you first examine its position.

When the strap is tight enough, close the ratchet handle to secure.
